Botox For Wrinkles & Brow Freezing

What is BOTOX?

BOTOX is a very pure preparation of a protein and botulinum toxin type A, obtained from bacterium clostridium botulinum grown under modern methods of cultivation. It has been extensively researched and used for many years to treat some disorders of the nervous system.

BOTOX has been licensed in the UK scince 2001 for the managment of severe axillary (underarm) hyperhidrosis that has not responded to topical treatments with antiperspirants or antihydrotics (sweat reducing agents)

BOTOX isalso used to minimise the appearance of "laughter lines", "crow's feet" and other so-called dynamic wrinkles. Dynamic wrinkles occur when we smile, laugh or frown, and the delicate muscles underlying ageing skin contract. Botulinum injected into these muscles by weakening them very precisely. After treatment, the overlying skin remains smooth and unwrinkled while untreated muscles contract normally, allowing normal facial expression to remain unaffected.

Botulinum Toxin injections have been safely and effectively used for over 10 years for many neurological and opthalmological disorders. Its beneficial effect on wrinkles was first discovered by neurologists and opthalmologists treating other conditions.

The following people cannot have BOTOX:

Those with neurological disorders such as Myasthenia GravisPregnant or breastfeeding womenThose with active skin infections in the area to be treatedConcurrent use of aminoglycoside antibiotics
